ITCHY, FLAKY SCALP
Natural Haircare: Why Your Shampoo Might Be Causing Scalp Problems
Have you ever thought about the ingredients in your shop-bought shampoo? If you’ve ever struggled with a dry, flaky, itchy, or oily scalp, your shampoo may be the culprit.
Here’s the truth: almost every shampoo you’ve ever bought—no matter the price tag—is made with synthetic detergents (SYNDET). And it’s not just bottled shampoos; many shampoo bars on the market are also SYNDET-based.
These detergents can strip the scalp, upsetting its natural balance. For some people, this leads to dryness, itchiness, excess oil, or even flare-ups of conditions like scalp psoriasis or eczema around the hairline.

If you have psoriasis, eczema, or sensitive skin, we recommend starting with our Fragrance Free Shampoo Soap or Goats Milk Shampoo Soap, alongside our Fragrance Free Conditioner. (links in italic)

What to Expect When Switching
Our shampoo soaps are very different from liquid shampoos and many conventional shampoo bars, so your hair may go through a short adjustment period as it detoxes from synthetic ingredients.
During this time, your hair might feel a little “off” or behave differently than usual. Don’t worry—this is temporary. Once your hair adjusts, many customers find the results wonderfully nourishing and long-lasting.
✨ A few things to keep in mind:
-
Not recommended for hard water areas (hard water can affect results).
-
Make sure you lather well and rinse thoroughly for best results.
-
Allow a few washes for your hair to fully adapt.
-
If your hair still doesn’t love the bar after the transition, don’t panic—our bars double beautifully as body soap.

How to Use Our Shampoo Soap
Step 1: Wet hair and rub the bar directly onto your scalp and hair until you build a lather.
(If you don’t get much lather at first, it may be due to product or oil build-up. Simply rinse and repeat until you do.)
Step 2: Rinse thoroughly, making sure all soap is removed from your hair.
Step 3: Apply conditioner if needed, then rinse well.
✨ Switching to natural shampoo soap can be a small change with a big impact—helping your scalp feel balanced, soothed, and refreshed without harsh chemicals.
